NOTE: The Biz of Hockey has been updated with a new documents. With Jerry Moyes attempting to sell the Phoenix Coyotes to Research in Motion co-CEO Jim Balsillie, who in turn is looking to relocate the team to Hamilton, Ontario Canada, the NHL has claimed that Moyes no longer controls the club due to cash infusions that the league made in Nov. of 2008 to Moyes. The manner in which the possible relocation of the Coyotes could occur is a deep interest to not only the NHL, but Major League Baseball, the National Football League, and the National Basketball Association which sees negative precedent setting effects from the Moyes/Balsillie transaction. The three leagues (MLB, NBA, and NFL) all filed supporting briefs in support of the NHL's position. Those documents are now available and are can be accessed from our documents archive.
